A Judge for the Okayama Governor’s English Speech Contest in Japan

Nia Lyte was invited to judge for the 11th Okayama Governor’s English Speech Contest, hosted by the Japan-America Society of Okayama held at the Okayama Sanyo Newspaper HQ, a largest newspaper company in Okayama and Kagawa Prefecture region on March 21st, 2016 in Okayama City, Japan. Approximately 300 Japanese elementary students and parents gathered to attend the all day event. The aspiring students from 2nd to 6th grade performed their 3-minute short English speeches before the cheering audience and a variety of Japanese and foreign judges. The special guest included Mr. Shin Koyamada, who is from Okayama and a Hollywood celebrity and Mr. Takashi Yamashita, a Japanese House of Representatives, who both made the English greetings to congratulate the students and parents on the event.
